Heatherdale Killdeer
Killdeer and her daughter UNO were the first two cows that we purchased from Dr. Brad and Colleen Card. Killdeer is an older cow (10 when we purchased her) and has a history of producing some fantastic heifer and bull calves for her breeder - Rob Irvine at Avon Acres and for Dr Brad and Colleen Card at Cranberry Hill. In March 2010, she gave birth to the first calf born at our farm, Shean Greigh's Xena.
Killdeer's pedigree can be found here.
Cranberry Hill UNO
UNO is Killdeer's daughter and we acquired her from Dr. Brad and Colleen Card as well. UNO had her first calf, a silver dun bull Xerxes, at side when she came to our farm.
UNO is a fantastic looking cow of moderate size. She is a bit of an escape artist, having broken several fence boards this spring, to get into the neighbour's pasture, and then into our front pasture. She does not believe in letting the grass rest early in the spring, to allow for a prolonged fall consumption period of forage.
UNO's pedigree can be found here.
Glenfiddich Twilight
We acquired Twilight from Greg and Marie Blake at Suncrest Farms. Twilight was bred by Glenfiddich Galloways, very prominent Galloway breeders in Canada. The McIlwraith family (Glenfiddich) have had a significant impact on the breed in Canada.
Twilight came to us in 2010 with a bull calf (Xavier) at foot.
Twilight's pedigree can be found here.
Suncrest Sapphire
We acquired Sapphire (along with Twilight) from Greg and Marie Blake at Suncrest Farms. She is due to calve at our farm in May 2010 and was A.I.ed to Glenfiddich Brodie - a very popular bull from the past. I am very hopeful for a heifer calf from this breeding.
Sapphire's pedigree can be found here.
