New calf!

Suncrest Sapphire gave birth to a fabulous looking heifer calf today. The still to be named heifer weighed in at a very high 89 pounds. Sapphire had no difficulty whatsoever. We showed up this afternoon and there was a little black heifer with her looking healthy and suckling.

Photos will follow perhaps tomorrow.

Our Bull

We have finally found the young bull we have been looking for as our first herd sire. Heatherdale Wallace is a fantastic specimen of the breed. He is a silver dun bull who is actually the great great great grandson of Heatherdale Killdeer - who we consider our foundation cow.

Between Killdeer and UNO (Killdeer's daughter), Wallace allows us the opportunity to line breed on Killdeer's lines with more than enough genetic diversity in between them.

Wallace is still at the Irvine farm and will be breeding cows there for another 6 weeks or so, after which we hope to acquire him.

Wallace's pedigree can be found here.
